I thought that this would be an interesting tag to do as my first post so you guys can get to know me a lot more. I found quite a few variations of this tag floating around Tumblr, so I just grabbed a few questions from each one and viola! We have ourselves a tag. I did originally see this tag done by the lovely people over on the PaperRiot blog. So credit to them for the idea!
Lets get into this, I hope you guys enjoy getting to know me uncomfortably well.
- What is your middle name?
I have two middle names actually. When I was born I was given my mum’s name, which is Jean. Apparently a tradition on her side of the family is that all daughters born are given the first or middle name Jean. I’m not too fond of this tradition.
Then when I was in Primary Four (Fourth Grade for you Americans) I took another middle name so, I was told to pick Rose. Even though I totally wanted the name Daphne at the time.
- Do you have any Nicknames?
I have had a lot of nicknames in the past. As you can imagine, with the name Lauren, my friends and I had to get creative with my nicknames. Some were; Lolly, Lozza, Lozkins, WeeLoz. Basically anything that had an L and a Z somewhere in there.
Nowadays friends call me, Laus (Pronounced Loz, I got rid of that awful Z) and Hobbit. I do have abnormally large feet for someone so short. My best friend’s dad noticed one day and called me Hobbit. I called him Gandalf. The rest is history. Please, do not assume I have hairy feet. I don’t. Let’s just clarify that now.
- What age are you?
I’m Twenty-Three, and occasionally have the mentality of a Sixteen year old.
- What is your zodiac sign?
I’m a Virgo! I could go into so much more detail about my moon sign, rising sign, etc, because I’m really into all that Zodiac/Horoscope stuff. But, I’d be here for a while.
- What is your favourite colour?
I absolutely love green, specifically earthy, forest or emerald green shades. And I love deep purples too. But, when it comes to choosing colours for a blog, or my bedroom etc, I usually go for very muted and/or simple colours. Such as; black, white, cremes, browns etc.
- Do you go to School/College/University?
I’ve went to High School, College and I just graduated from University in June 2016, which was absolutely wonderful.
- Do you have any pets?
I do! I have a Cat called Sootie and a Bearded Dragon named Iko. They get along famously, as you can imagine.
- Where are you from?
I’m from Scotland.
- How tall are you?
I am currently 5’3 in height. I consider myself fun-sized.
- Introvert or extrovert?
I’d say I’m more of an ambivert, but I’m more on the introverted side.
- Tea of Coffee?
Tea, I love ice tea and hot tea. But, prefer hot tea when I’m reading.
- How did you come up with your blog name?
It consisted with me listing every book related word I could think of and then listing things I enjoy. By the time I got to ‘Fiction’ on the first list, I got very frustrated and paired it with my favourite drink.
Voila! FictionTea was born.
Exciting process, I know.
- What talents do you have?
I can do a really good impersonation of Stitch from ‘Lilo & Stitch’ and Smeagol/Gollum from ‘Lord of the Rings’. It took months to perfect.
- Are you psychic in any way?
Not particularly. I feel like I can read people and situations pretty well, but I wouldn’t necessarily call that a psychic ability.
- Favourite song?
It changes constantly. I couldn’t possibly choose one. Although, recently I have been listening to Samantha Shannon’s Spotify religiously.
- Favourite movie?
The entire ‘Lord of the Rings’ movie trilogy. I could watch them back to back any day, any time.
- Who would be your ideal partner?
Arcturus Mesarthim/Warden from ‘The Bone Season’.
Really though, I don’t know. I like people with a good sense of humour (I feel like I need someone I can have a good laugh with) and people who are well organised. I really like and admire confidence, but the good, strong kind of confidence. Not the overly confident type, that can get really irritating. I’d need to find someone who is patient to put up with my book obsession. And honestly, I’d like to find someone who challenges me and helps me become someone I’d be proud to be.
Ideally, if they could be tall and look like Arcturus/Warden from ‘The Bone Season’ series, that would be fantastic. A girl can dream, right?
- Your favourite place to shop?
A book or craft store.
- Whats your favourite type of restaurant to visit.
Hm, I love Italian food. But, Chinese and Japanese cuisine are close seconds, so I’d visit restaurants that sell those types of food.
- Favourite Quote?
Oh gosh, where do I begin? I have so many favourites. I’ll give you my top three.
- “The power of imagination makes us infinite.” – John Muir
- “What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what gets you out of bed in the mornings, what you do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love and it will decide everything.” – Pedro Arrupe
- “Words are everything. Words give wings even to those who have been stamped upon, broken beyond all hope of repair.”- Samantha Shannon
- If you got a free plane ticket to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Either New Zealand, Australia, Japan, or LA. I have always wanted to visit those places. I’ve already been to New York twice and London multiple times.
- Have you ever got in trouble with the law?
Nope, I’m a good girl.
- Have you ever met any celebrities?
I’ve met Billy Boyd (Pippin from ‘Lord of the Rings’) twice since he lives in the same city as me. So, thats pretty cool.
- Baths or showers?
Showers, but I love the occasional bath.
- What colour socks are you wearing?
Black fluffy socks!
- Have you ever been famous?
I have not, but I’ve been in a Newspaper twice! That was pretty snazzy.
- Would you like to be a celebrity?
I’m not sure really, I enjoy my privacy.
- What type of music do you like?
My music taste has changed so much over the years, but I have always loved Rock (Old school and modern), Alternative, Indie and I absolutely adore listening to music compositions and movie OST’s. They give me a lot of inspiration.
- Have you ever been skinny dipping?
I can honestly say no, I haven’t.
- How many pillows do you sleep with?
I sleep with three, because I have a double bed and one of my pillows is an extra long one. Its pretty darn cosy.
- What position do you usually sleep in?
I tend to sleep spread out in the summer and curl up in the winter.
- How big is your bed?
I have a double bed, it’s pretty spacious.
- What do you typically have for breakfast?
I have anything I feel like, but I enjoy cereal (I’m currently obsessed with Lucky Charms), Pop Tarts, Pancakes or sometimes I have a Pot Noodle.
- What’s your favourite food to have for dinner?
I love, love, love Pasta. I’ll never say no to a Pizza.
Gosh, I’m so hungry now.
- Have you ever tried archery?
I have! And I’ve scored an (almost) bulls-eye, and came first in a little competition at a holiday park. I was pretty chuffed with myself.
- Can you speak any other languages?
I can say a few different phrases in French, Japanese and Finnish. Obviously my Spanish classes in high school really payed off, because I remember that language least out of them all. I know how to swear in Italian, too. Thats pretty handy.
- Favourite swear word?
I say ‘Fuck’ and ‘Shit’ most often. And, like I said above, I can swear in Italian.
- What’s the longest you’ve ever gone without sleep?
The longest I’ve went without sleep is probably two days. And I’ve went four days on three hours of sleep. Thanks University!
- Do you have any scars?
I have a few! I have two on my left knee that I got from falling on some rough gravel when I was a kid. I was chasing this guy I liked. Thats what I call determination.
I have a very faint one on my right thumb. I cut it on some sharp plastic on my best friends swing set when we were playing ‘The Ground is Lava’. We’re still best friends and she still hasn’t apologised on behalf of her swing set.
My last one is on my left thumb. I was doing a model making project for College and I had just hot glued a piece of cardboard. Somehow, the stringy glue flipped the cardboard (the side with hot glue) onto my thumb. It was as painful as it sounds.
I like to look at it this way…Battle scars! *Pumps fist in the air*
- Have you ever had a secret admirer?
I had a couple throughout high school.
- Are you a good liar?
I wouldn’t say I’m a good one, nor a terrible one. But, I avoid lying, because I believe it comes back to bite you in the ass eventually.
- Are you a good judge of character?
I believe I am.
- Can you do any accents other than your own?
Apart from my totally, incredible Stitch and Smeagol/Gollum impersonations, no. I have attempted multiple times and failed miserably. I’d love to be able to do an accent though. I shall practice.
- Do you have a strong accent?
I have a Glaswegian accent which can be really hard for people outside of Scotland to understand, so I try to speak proper whenever I can. I wouldn’t say I have a strong Scottish accent, because if you guys are familiar with Scottish accents, then you know there are so many different types and levels of Scottish.
- What is your favourite accent?
I wouldn’t say I have a favourite accent. I enjoy hearing Irish accents though and the really strong Scottish accents.
- If you could speak one language fluently, what would it be?
Japanese, for sure! Maybe French too.
- What is your most expensive piece of clothing?
I have a pair of boots that cost me £90. For me, that is pretty damn expensive. I still have them, and I rarely wear them anymore.
- Can you curl your tongue?
I sure can! And I’ve been trying to teach myself how to make the flower with my tongue for ages! It’s borderline impossible.
- Are you an innie or an outie?
I’m an innie!
- Left or right handed?
I’m right handed. My best friend is ambidextrous and I will be forever envious of her mad skills to draw and write with both hands.
- Are you scared of spiders?
Terrified. Completely and utterly terrified. And sometimes I feel bad about it.
- Are you scared bees or wasps?
Ironically, I’m not really scared of them. I say ‘ironically’ because I’ve had a wasp sting me in the ear when I was but a mere child. If one comes close I’ll just stand still or duck out the way, whereas my sister and friends squeal and run a mile.
- Favourite animal?
I love all animals, but my absolute favourites are Lizards (specifically Bearded Dragons, Geckos, Crested Geckos, etc), Cats, Dogs and I think Eagles and Hawks are absolutely amazing.
- Are you a clean or a messy person?
I like to think I’m a person who keeps everything in an organised mess.
- Do you collect anything?
Books, duh. I’m also in the process of collecting all the different editions of ‘The Great Gatsby’ which is my favourite Classic.
- Anything you wish you could collect?
If I had the money and the space, I’d love to collect vintage cameras.
- How long does it take for you to get ready?
It really depends what I’m doing. If I’m going out with friends for dinner and a movie, I can take up to an hour. I know, its shocking.
- What takes you the longest, hair or makeup?
Makeup, definitely. I’m a perfectionist and I love doing my makeup, so I will keep messing around with eyeliner, eyeshadow, etc till I’m happy. Whereas my hair, I just straighten or curl it quickly and I run out the door.
- Biggest achievement?
My three other team members and I got best Industrial Group project of 2016 at our University Graduation. This was a pretty big deal, because Industrial Groups are where you and your team would work with a real client. And ours was really successful, so I was thrilled.
- Biggest fear?
Being unsuccessful, I guess. I don’t like to think about my fears too much.
- Do you talk to yourself?
Occasionally, it tends to be when I’m angry or annoyed though. Or, if I do something stupid I’ll be like ‘Good one Lauren‘ and laugh at myself.

I hum, and it tends to be Disney songs. I get really into it.
- Are you a good singer?
I wouldn’t know, I hum. I’m good at humming. *hums*
- Are you a gossip?
I wish I could say that I wasn’t, but I kind of am. I’m usually only a gossip if the information is something that I’m interested in or shocked about.
- What was the last thing you purchased?
The last thing I bought was the Apple Pen and an iPad Pro 12.9 Inch leather case. I got said iPad for Christmas and I’m really excited to finally have one.
- Do you like long or short hair?
I like both, I don’t really have a preference. Although, I recently cut my hair short (again, because my hair grows super fast) so it was easier to maintain, style and whatnot. So, I suppose I currently favour short hair.
- Least favourite school subject?
Math. I hated math. I’m actually Dyscalculia, so I suck pretty bad when it comes to anything involving numbers. I wasn’t so keen on Physics either, I liked it when it was fun and easy, but funnily enough, the more numbers it started to involve then the less I liked it.
- Favourite school subject?
Graphic Communication, Product Design, Art and English. All the creative ones.
- Something you’ve always wanted to do?
I want to and I’m still determined to take a road trip across America. It sounds like an amazing thing to do and I don’t even care how long it’d take. I’m determined to do it.
- Have you ever been scuba-diving?
No, but I’ve been snorkelling and that was pretty cool. But, the moment I saw a jelly fish I freaked out and swam to the beach as fast as I could.
- What makes you nervous?
Deadlines and waiting for exam or project results. When I was waiting to find out my final University mark, I was literally losing sleep I was so nervous.
- Are you scared of the dark?
I used to be. Not so much anymore.
- Do you correct people when they make mistakes?
I can be a bit of a grammar freak at times. But I don’t correct people much, I just correct them in my mind and try my hardest to ignore it. However, if its a mistake someone has made about a movie or a book, I will correct them. Especially if its a book or movie that I love.
- Are you ticklish?
I used to be, but I’m not anymore. Is it even possible to grow out of being ticklish?
- Have you ever started a rumour?
I have not.
- Have you ever been in a position of authority?
Eh, I’ve been a babysitter a few times and I used to be a leader at the Guides and Rainbows. I don’t really know if that counts.
- Were you ever a Girl Guide/Scout?
I was both! I quit Scouts when I was super young though and I only stopped going to Girl Guides a few years ago. I really enjoyed it and have a lot of friends from there.
- Have you ever been part of any other clubs?
My parents made me join a Homework club in the library when I was in Primary school. I think I went once and never again. I joined the Badminton club in High School for a month and that’s about it really. I wish I’d went to a Karate club or something when I was younger though.
- Who was your first real crush?
Eh, some guy in Primary five. He moved when we went into Primary 6 and I was devastated.
- How many piercings do you have?
Just my ears, which I actually only got done in 2015, because I hated the idea of a needle going through my ear lobe. Also, the added fuss of cleaning my ear just seemed like too much of a bother.
- Do you have a Tattoo?
I do! I have one tattoo, but thats kind of split into two? There is one behind each ear, and it’s quotation marks. If you want to know more about my tattoo then you can visit my post on Instagram about it by clicking here. I’m really happy with it and I love my meaning behind it. I enjoy simple/minimalistic tattoos with a lot of meaning behind them.
- How fast can you read?
I can read pretty fast if I’m engrossed in a book, but I don’t really like to rush my reading. I like to take my time and enjoy it.
- How fast can you run?
I used to be able to run pretty fast, but then I discovered the internet and any sort of running or sports that I used to be good at became non-existent.
- What colour is your hair?
My natural hair colour is dark brunette. Although, when I was a baby I had platinum blonde hair. And I really want that hair back, it was gorgeous.
- What colour are your eyes?
I have ice blue/grey eyes with a dark navy blue circle outlining the iris. I know that is super detailed but I always get compliments on my eyes and asked if I wear contacts. Someone has literally asked me to prove that I’m not wearing contacts.
- What are you allergic to?
Nothing, as far as I’m aware. When I was little though, my dad told me I was allergic to nuts because he didn’t want to share his Christmas dessert with me. I genuinely thought I was allergic to nuts for years after he told me that.
- Do you keep a journal?
I’ve tried to keep many journals. Reading journals, personal journals, writing journals, but I gave up with them. However, for the past few months I have been keeping a Bullet Journal and it’s been so much fun.
- Do you have any siblings?
I have one younger sister and she is the complete opposite of me.
- Do you act like your age?
Hm, sometimes. When I get really overly excited about something I can act like a complete child. And I don’t see anything wrong with expressing my excitement like that.
- What makes you angry?
When people act like they are above it all because they believe it makes them cool and superior to others.
People who try to tell me who I am, especially when they are completely wrong. And I’d say this also includes when people try to tell me what I know or what is right and wrong, when they are (once again) wrong.
I really don’t like it when people are disrespectful towards my friends, it really, really pisses me off.
And lastly, I get so angry when people avoid your texts, especially when we’ve both been texting non-stop for awhile. Petty, I know. But, it’s really annoying!
- Do you like your own name?
I do like my name, but its a pain in the ass to make a nickname out of, or a username.
- Have you already thought of baby names, and if so, what are are they?
I have, but I’m not telling because I don’t want anyone else stealing them. I’m not even sure if I would use them for a baby to be honest. I tend to pick out names for characters that I’m writing. I think I enjoy picking out their names a bit too much.
- Do you like short or long names?
I don’t really have a preference honestly, I just know I like interesting, unique or quirky names.
- Favourite genres?
For books, my favourite genre is definitely Fantasy. But for movies, I don’t really have a preference, just anything that doesn’t bore me.
- If you were on Youtube right now, what would you be watching?
I really enjoy watching sim building videos. I have been playing ‘The Sims’ since the very first original game was released, and I freaking love it. Just like there is a whole community online for bookworms, there is a community online for Sim gamers and it’s awesome. I adore watching their ‘Let’s Play’ and ‘Let’s Build’ videos.
You can also find me watching ASMR, DIY or makeup tutorials.
- Something we don’t know about you?
Hm, I enjoy watching Anime a lot. I don’t read Manga as much as I used to, but I’m slowly making my way through a huge list of Anime shows I want to watch. And, I will be reviewing some of the shows I watch on this blog.
- Cookies or doughnuts?
I do enjoy a good doughnut, but I can’t deny my love for cookies. I can devour an entire packet of cookies by myself, and my favourite are definitely chocolate chip. They are the best!
- Favourite mythical creature?
Dragons, without a doubt. I actually have an obsession with Toothless from the ‘How to Train your Dragon’ movies. And I would do anything to have him as a companion. He is absolutely adorable in every way possible! I do love Elves too, but I’m not sure if I consider them a mythical creature. Probably more of a mythical being.
- Colour of your bedspread?
It is currently a creme colour with knitted jumper pattern on it. It’s a bit fluffy too which makes it incredibly cosy.
- Colour of your room?
My room is a very light creme colour, almost ivory I’d say. I can actually remember the name for it. Its called ‘Blank Manuscript’. I thought it was quite fitting for the room of a bookworm.
If you sat through all one hundred questions then you have the patience of a saint and you probably know me pretty damn well now. Since this is a tag, I am going to ask some fellow bookworms to do it! Of course its completely up to them if they want to or not.

Oh yay for graphic design! I did graphic and web design for 10 years! I’m an Art Director at my job now but I’m in love with / learning hand lettering! I’m always up for talking design if you ever want to!
Thats amazing! I really want to be an Art Director at a publishing company! Designing book covers would be a dream come true. I will definitely take you up on that one day.

Awesome tag, and I totally get the Toothless thing. He is adorable!

Thank you so much Roxan! That means the world to me!
Ahh I”m so glad you’ve started a blog! I really want to go to New Zealand and Japan too – I’m currently learning Japanese. My uncle lives out there with his wife (they’re just about to have a baby) so I’m going to go and live with them when I’m at uni! Also, Iko and your cat are so cute together ?
Thats so cool! All the best to your uncle and his wife!
Thank you so much for taking the time to come over to my blog and leave a comment!
It means the world to me! And Iko and Sootie say thank you too!
This is so fun! I might do this one myself sometime this month.
It’s okay not to act like your own age, I still act younger than I am, and being in my late twenties, that makes me feel like I’m only in the beginning of my twenties. Really helps to keep up with the young adults at my work. 😀
It took a little while, but honestly, if you shove on some music then you’ll have a blast. Be sure to let me know when you do it, because I’d love to give it a read!
I love tea! I’m also a huge fan of alternative music. That’s so awesome that you’re from Scotland. I’m studying abroad in Ireland next year and I’m hoping to visit Scotland at one point. It’s so beautiful in pictures! I love your blog by the way; you’ve got yourself a new follower! 😀
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
Thank you so much!
Tea is the best.
I wish you the best of luck in Ireland with your studies, and if you come to Scotland, make sure you visit Glasgow! A lot of people focus on Edinburgh, but Glasgow is a fantastic city.
(Also, visit Glasgow University, it’s basically Hogwarts)
Thank you so much for the follow. <3
