Books to look out for during the Aries season

Five Authors I’d Love To Meet

Over the past few years, I have gotten the chance to meet authors such as; Samantha Shannon, VE Schwab, Laini Taylor, Pierce Brown, Maggie Stiefvater, Holly Black, and Cassandra Clare amongst many others. I love to meet authors who’s books I’ve thoroughly enjoyed, or who’s books I’m eager to pick up in the future. However, there are some I’ve never met or, they’ve been to the UK before and I’ve not been able to attend. Usually this is because it’s a “UK tour” meaning, England tour stops only.

I made a list of top five authors (in no particular order) that I’d like to meet in the future. I hope that at least some of them come to/return to the UK at some point, because I’m positive that there are many other readers within the UK who would love to attend their events.

Kerri Maniscalco

Maniscalco’s ‘Stalking Jack the Ripper‘ series is one of my all time favourites, and it’s the series that rekindled my love for historical fiction, which I hadn’t really revisited since reading ‘The Infernal Devices‘ trilogy by Cassandra Clare. I adore the dark style of her story-telling and I can’t wait to see what other books she brings to us in the future. Maniscalco has been teasing one on Twitter recently, and it’s already made it onto my most anticipated list under ‘Book Kerri keeps teasing‘.

Stephanie Garber

Garber was previously in the UK when her debut novel ‘Caraval‘ hit the shelves in 2017. I was lucky enough to get a proof copy of the book and I adored every single page, but I was unable to attend the London event. I was pretty sad about that, but since then the ‘Caraval‘ trilogy has become one of the most popular series in YA, which has me hoping that Garber will be returning to the UK again soon. I’m currently reading ‘Finale‘ the final book in the trilogy and I’m not ready for it to end.

Adrienne Young

Admittedly, I haven’t read ‘Sky in the Deep‘ yet, but it is ridiculously high on my TBR. I started following Young on Instagram last year and found that she posts some of the most helpful and motivating advice I’ve ever read, whether it refers to writing, life, mental health, etc. I really enjoy her vibe, and think she’s a pretty fantastic person. I would love to attend one of her events and listen to her talk about her writing journey, and of course, her books. I’m almost entirely positive that when I do get around to reading ‘Sky in the Deep‘ I’ll love it. It’s definitely one of those books that’s been sitting on my TBR for a while, and one that I have a really good feeling about.

Erin Morgenstern

Morgenstern is an author I’ve always wanted to meet, ever since I read her novel ‘The Night Circus‘ back in 2012. I’ve re-read this book countless times more since then, it absolutely blows me away and it’s one of my favourite books of all time. I feel like she would have a fantastic book event, it would definitely be one that I would always remember.

Madeline Miller

I read ‘Song of Achilles‘ last year and I loved every single page, despite the fact that it shattered my heart into a million itty bitty pieces. Greek Mythology has fascinated me from a very young age and I would like to believe that an event with Miller would be filled with all the Greek Mythology chat. And, like the other authors on this list, Miller is a fantastic writer. I genuinely would just like to let her know how her writing absolutely shattered me. What every author loves to hear, I’m sure.

There are definitely many more authors I would love to meet, but these five have been at the top of my list for a long time.

Let me know what authors you’d love to meet, and if there’s any authors you’d love to see coming back to the UK in the future.

I really hope Hodder decides to bring her over here later this year!
I don’t think she’ll be at YALC, which is pretty gutting, but honestly if she just gets to the UK in general at one point this year, I’ll be happy.

I was lucky enough to meet Stephanie Garber and Madeline Miller when they came to Manchester! But it would be awesome if they came again!
I would love to meet Marissa Meyer though! The Lunar Chronicles is one of my all time fave series!

Yeah, I didn’t get the chance because she didn’t have tour stops anywhere near Scotland. 🙁

I hope Stephanie comes to the UK again. I missed her due to my train being cancelled because of windy weather so I’d love to finally meet her. Kerri is also one on my list to meet!

      Oh my gosh, really?!
That sucks man, I can’t believe the trains caused you to miss her.
I really do hope she gets back here, she would have a massive event for sure.
And I know if Kerri made it here, we’d definitely be in the front row! xD
